It's a shame that Grandad passed away when I was so little because from time to time I think of small things that would have been nice to share with him. So I'm really grateful that I was able to know Gran for a whole 20 years and that we were able to see her most weeks. At times I'd just tell her seemingly trivial things about school for example, but she'd always be happy to listen, despite how long I tend to talk for! ……..
I also know that if you told Gran something she wouldn't forget it. Most people's memories fade with age but Gran's was exceptional. She had a load of entertaining stories from when my uncles and dad were young, which was clearly a longgg time ago........   seeing as my dad hardly remembers it himself………  She also had many stories from her own childhood and could recall various experiences from the second world war.

In addition to her incredible memory, Gran was sharp and energetic, making her seem a quarter of her age in some ways. Although she could be very calm at times, she was also able to create an upbeat atmosphere in seconds by breaking into song or making a funny unexpected comment. Gran had a great sense of humour - though at times it seems that trait skipped a generation!..........

Gran always valued time spent outdoors and time spent around family. She was always loving and generous to us. I hope we can carry forward her values.
